Participants at the HOT NORTH & One Disease Skin Health Symposium – 14 August 2019

The recent HOT NORTH and One Disease skin health symposium in Darwin brought together experts from organisations around Australia to discuss the burden of scabies in Australia and to lay the groundwork for future collaborations aimed at controlling scabies in Australia. With nearly 100 health professionals in attendance, including medical, nursing and Aboriginal Health practitioners and researchers, the participants heard talks on the history of Northern Territory skin health programs, the global scabies situation and recent successful mass drug administration trials in other countries, video microscopy and DNA-based diagnoses and a range of other topics on the efforts to eliminate scabies through research, practice and community-led initiatives.
